It’s a Long Way to Tipperary

I’m thinking of doing a photo-travelogue of Old Azeroth, before Cataclysm sets in. Any opinions on where I should start, and what direction to travel?

A quick update on this:

  • I’m planning on starting as a level-1 alt and traveling the world. (Yes, I am going to spend a lot of time as a ghost.)

    • I may level this alt to 10 before I set out proper.
  • This isn’t going to be “a memoir of leveling”; it’s a deliberate, Pausanias (or Bill Bryson, as you prefer) -style travel journal, going to different interesting places and recording them for posterity.
  • This is going to be on a new server, one I haven’t played on before, to avoid the temptation to supply this character with gold and gear.
  • I welcome guest stars, but I won’t be taking on permanent traveling companions.

Pick a racial starting area, follow it out into the world the way a new character would. :)

Start at your racial starting area and go through the zones as you remember leveling them for the first time. Try to get shots at different times of day, too!

I intend to do the same. Whether it gets posted anywhere or not remains to be seen, but my plan is to start at the north end of each zone and work my way south (Quel’thalas to Stranglethorn in EK and Winterspring to Silithis in Kalimdor). Will I actually DO it? I’m not sure yet. But that’s the plan. ;)

@elfennau and @Cynwise, see above; I’m not really sure that that approach fits what I’m trying to do. This project feels more like “I’ve got a map and two feet, let’s see how far I get” than “I’m discovering the map”. :)

Wow, that’d be so cool! I love Bill Bryson and I love WoW – not to mention I’m digging your writing style. So I really hope you’re gonna do this =D
